Practice Putting Green for Home
Customer:
Sam. His handicap is 5
Location:
Burleigh Heads
Area of work to be completed: Down the side of the house. The green design was professionally designed by our in house architect.
Challenge:
Building a putting green/ chipping green in a long, narrow area.
We first started by removing the gravel and debris including bamboo using our Toro mini loader. We removed a significant amount of soil to remove all the roots from under the bamboo and ensure we were able to achieve the correct depth to install a putting green base. Some of the deepest areas were up to 300mm at the maximum depth which was all disposed into skip bins and removed.
We then extended a new drainage line and drainage pit so the surface water can be taken away when we get our Queensland storms.
The road base was brought in and was shaped in accordance with the green design that was presented to the owner. It was compacted time and time again to ensure the base was extremely firm.
The crusher dust was then layered over the road base and again shaped as per the design and compacted several times.
We installed 5 metal putting cups and they come complete with the putting pins.
The grass that was installed on the green is called our TruePutt 13mm putting green, it is infilled with sand and broomed in to create a firm smooth putting surface. The grass used in the surround around the green surface is called Easylawn 40mm lawn product. It is joined to the green and pinned into the base with a light infill of sand. The whole area is then broomed up using a petrol mechanical brush.
